A Hug And A Great Night’s Sleep Makes Everything Better

After seeing first-hand how difficult it can be to go a long time without hugging your loved ones, I will be sure to never take another hug for granted!

I’m a serious hugger! Receiving hugs, giving hugs, bring it on! I’m your girl. I’m even a pillow hugger. Who would have ever thought we would live to see a day where it was not acceptable to hug your loved ones? This year has really shown us the value in a hug, and how everyone really could use one from time to time!

One of the hot button topics physicians and psychologists have been examining this year in relation to COVID-19, is called touch starvation. Touch starvation occurs when physical contact with other humans becomes limited or even completely eliminated. Even from birth, humans are wired to touch and be touched. We have integrated physical touch into our daily lifestyles whether it’s a handshake with a new acquaintance, a warm hug from a loved one, or a reassuring pat on the back.

Touch starvation has been a consequence of COVID-19 and physical distancing in 2020. “Touch starvation increases stress, depression and anxiety, triggering a cascade of negative physiological effects…People who are stressed or depressed, perhaps because of lack of touch, will have problems sleeping” according to Texas Medical Center.

This is a repeating cycle. The stress that comes with being physically distanced from our loved ones can lead to poor sleep, and poor sleep in turn affects how we approach each day. A year’s worth of bad sleep (as many may have had in 2020) can have increasingly negative consequences on one’s health and overall wellbeing. What can we do to make up for this lack of physical contact with our friends and family? While it may not be the first idea to come to mind, one solution to this could be a weighted blanket!

There is evidence that suggests physical and psychological benefits to hugging, and many describe the feeling of using a weighted blanket as being wrapped in a warm hug! Some even say that these blankets give them comfort and make them feel safe and cuddled when their loved ones are away at night. There is tons of research that suggests weighted blankets help with stress and anxiety. The deep pressure simulation helps us to relax, and feel more at ease than without one. Who wouldn’t feel more at ease when they are being surrounded by a warm hug?

The True Temp Weighted Blanket is the perfect way to gift a hug to your closest friends and family this holiday season. In a year where quality hugs were few and far between, everyone could use a good long hug as we approach 2021! Choose your weight so you can tailor your hug to just the right pressure, and never spend another night feeling alone. Do not worry about feeling too hot in the middle of the night, because the material in the True Temp Weighted Blanket adjusts to your body’s changing temperature and microclimate, keeping you comfortable while still providing the comforting feeling of added weight and pressure. The inner blanket is carefully crafted using tiny glass, evenly distributed and locked in place by small pockets and a light layer of fill to make your 15 or 20 pound options as cuddly as possible. Twelve ties keep the removable, washable cover in place. I particularly love the narrow rectangle quilt pattern, there are three beautiful colors to appeal to everyone. This is a premium quality product focused on weight without extra heat that will provide lasting comfort.

While we come to an end of the crazy year that was 2020, we do not have to suffer all the consequences that came with it! If you can’t give your loved ones a real hug this holiday, make sure they feel appreciated with the next best thing: a weighted blanket. Practice some much deserved self-care and invest in one for yourself as well! You can never have too many hugs, after all!
